1. Understanding the Event Discovery Ecosystem
Our process began with a deep competitive analysis of leading platforms like Eventbrite, Gametime, and Meetup. This revealed key opportunities for ADV to stand out:
- Community is Key: Most apps are transactional. There’s a huge opportunity to build features that connect users with each other and with event organizers.
- Discovery is Broken: Users are often flooded with irrelevant events. A highly personalized, visually engaging feed is a powerful differentiator.
- Organizer Tools are Lacking: Artists and local venues need simple, effective tools to reach their target audience without the complexity of larger platforms.
2. Crafting Personas
To guide the redesign, we created three user personas that represent the core of the ADV community:

Sofia, The Social Explorer

✅ What She Does:
She’s always looking for what’s new and exciting in her city, from concerts to pop-up festivals, to attend with her friends.
💭 What Drives Her:
Discovering trendy events easily, a visually appealing interface, and the ability to see what’s popular within her social circle.
❌ What Bugs Her:
Outdated event listings, boring app designs, and not knowing if an event will have a good vibe.

Alex, The Niche Follower

✅ What He Does:
He follows specific local bands and theaters and wants to know about their events without having to sift through mainstream noise.
💭 What Drives Him:
A personalized feed tailored to his interests, getting notifications for his favorite artists, and a simple way to save events he’s interested in.
❌ What Bugs Him:
Generic recommendations, missing out on tickets for a small show, and cluttered interfaces that make finding specific events difficult.

Elena, The Local Promoter

She needs an easy and affordable way to list her venue’s weekly events and reach a local, engaged audience.
💭 What Drives Her:
Simple event publishing tools, connecting directly with a community of attendees, and analytics to see how her listings are performing.
❌ What Bugs Her:
High commission fees on other platforms, complex listing processes, and no way to build a following directly within the app.
