Project Name:
Sushi app

1. Overview
The sushi app is a mobile application for customers to order sushi quickly and easily. The target audience of the app is people who frequently order sushi.
The problem:
Busy people have little free time to order sushi.
The goal:
Design an app for a sushi restaurant that allows customers to order quickly and easily.
My role:
UX Designer
Responsibilities:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
2. Understanding the user
User research
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users. I’m designing for their needs and giving them the best experience. A primary user group identified through the research was busy people with little free time.
Persona
Carol is an architect and busy mother who needs to order sushi quickly and easily because she has a very busy schedule with many things to do.

3. Starting the design
Paper wireframes
Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a quick and easy ordering process to help users save time.
Digital wireframes
As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research.
Usability studies
I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.
4. Refining the design
Key mockups

High-fidelity prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype presented a large user flow, ensuring a great experience with the app. View the Sushi’s App: high-fidelity prototype.
